Transferring your domain name to LICOSYS

Before proceeding with the Transfer, you are advised to first check the following:

Confirm if your Domain Name can be Transferred

There are various cases where a Domain Name MAY NOT be Transferable to another Registrar. This could happen in the following circumstances:

A.     Domain Name is less than 60 days Old - If the Domain Name you are trying to Transfer is less than 60 days old, the request will get rejected by the Registry itself. Domain Names less than 60 days old are not allowed to be Transferred to any other Registrar as per ICANN Guidelines.

B.     Domain Name has been Transferred less than 60 days ago - A Domain Name cannot be Transferred to another Registrar within 60 days of a previous Transfer. For example, a Domain Name cannot be Transferred from Registrar B to Registrar C, if it has been Transferred to Registrar B from Registrar A within the last 60 days. An exception to this rule is the Transfer back to the previous Registrar in cases where both Registrars so agree and/or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs.

C.     You have Locked your Domain Name - If you have Locked your Domain Name from the Control Panel provided by the current Registrar, then a Transfer Request for that Domain Name will not be allowed. You will first have to unlock the Domain Name from the Control Panel and then proceed with a Transfer Request.

D.     Your Registrar has applied a Lock or Hold on your Domain Name - If the current Registrar has applied a Lock or Hold on the Domain Name due to some pending issue, you would be advised to get in touch with their (current Registrar's) Support Team to resolve this issue, before applying for a Transfer.

E.     If the Domain Name is in the Redemption Grace Period or in the Pending Delete status, the Domain Name can not be Transferred.

NOTE:

The .WS Registry does not support Transfer of Domain Names between Registrars. Hence, a .WS Domain Name cannot be Transferred under any circumstance.

What is Domain (Transfer) Secret or Authorization (Auth.) Code and how you can obtain it from your Current Registrar?

A Domain (Transfer) Secret or Authorization Code is a code assigned by the Registrar at the time the domain name was registered. This Auth Code acts like a password for a domain name. Domain (Transfer) Secret is an extra security measure, ensuring that only the owner of the domain can transfer their domain name.

To transfer any domain name of any of the following extensions, you would require to first obtain the Domain (Transfer) Secret or Auth. Code from your current Registrar:

  • .com
  • .net
  • .org
  • .info
  • .biz
  • .us
  • .in (along with any third level .in domain like .co.in)
  • .name
  • .mobi
  • .cc (not compulsory)
  • .tv (not compulsory)

Ideally, your domain name's Domain (Transfer) Secret or Auth. Code should be available within the Domain Name Management Interface provided by your Registrar. In the event that you are not able to locate your Domain (Transfer) Secret or Auth. Code, you need to contact the Support Team of your current Registrar, to obtain it.

Once you have confirmed the above, you may place a Transfer request for your Domain Name with LICOSYS, by following the below mentioned steps:

Domain Transfer Process:

Step 1.   Login to your LICOSYS Client Area.

Step 2.   In the Control Panel, go to Domains -> Domain Registration -> Transfer. There, enter the Domain Name you wish to Transfer and the Domain (Transfer) Secret.

Step 3.   Select the various Contacts (Registrant, Admin, Technical & Billing Contact) for this Domain Name. You may select from the available list of Contacts or Add a New Contact.

Step 4.   It is compulsory for you to agree to the associated Product Agreement(s) by selecting the check box.

Step 5.   Finally, proceed with the Payment of the Invoice.

Now that you have placed the Transfer Order, the Administrative Contact for the Domain Name will receive an e-mail from LICOSYS for the Transfer Authorization process, which needs to be approved within 5 days (or else it is assumed that the Admin Contact does not wish for the Transfer to complete and the Order is Deleted in our system).

Once the mail has been approved by the Administrative Contact, the Current Registrar will be notified regarding the same. The Current Registrar will send an e-mail to the Registrant and/or the Administrative Contact of the concerned Domain Name to confirm that they wish to Transfer their Domain Name.

If the Transfer is not denied by either the Registrant or the Administrative Contact or the Current Registrar, the Domain Name will be Transferred to you under LICOSYS in 5 days.
